Hector Bonilla

Héctor Bonilla was a Mexican actor and director who had a long and successful career in film, television, and theater. He started his acting studies at the National School of Theater of the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico. He made his film debut in 1962 with the movie Jóvenes y bellas. Some of his most notable films include Meridiano 100 (1977), for which he won an Ariel Award for Best Actor, Rojo Amanecer (1989), in which he also served as a producer and won another Ariel Award for Best Actor, and Una última y nos vamos (2015). He also starred in many popular telenovelas, such as Velo de novia (1971), Soledad (1980), La pasión de Isabela (1984), Rosa salvaje (1987), El juramento (2008), and Amor cautivo (2012). He also appeared in some TV series, such as El Chavo del Ocho (1979), Papá soltero (1987), El César (2017), and El señor de los cielos (2018). He also did voice work for some Disney movies, such as Ratatouille (2007), The Jungle Book (2016), and Coco (2017). Theater was also one of his passions, and he performed in many plays, such as Aquel tiempo de campeones, Mi vida es mi vida, Yo soy mi propia esposa, Realmente un tour de force, and Almacenados. He was also involved in politics, and was a deputy of the Constituent Assembly of Mexico City from 2016 to 2017. He died on 25 November 2022, at the age of 83, from natural causes.
