Leticia Palma

Leticia Palma was a Mexican actress who worked in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. She was famous for her role as Ada Romano in the film En la palma de tu mano, which ranked 70th on Somos magazine's 1994 list of the 100 best Mexican films. She starred in a dozen films before a dispute with Jorge Negrete, then-president of the National Association of Actors (ANDA), led to her being banned from the Mexican film industry. She accused Negrete of using his influence in the union to sabotage her career, and he accused her of stealing her own contract files from the ANDA offices. She was defended by Mario Moreno "Cantinflas", who tried to negotiate a settlement, but she could not prove her accusations and was expelled by the majority of ANDA members. She was married to a wealthy American and later to a Mexican businessman. She died on December 4, 2009, in Cuernavaca, Mexico. She was considered one of the most interesting presences on the Mexican silver screen.
