Born in a small village, he faced early loss with the death of his mother and later his father. Despite financial hardships, he pursued education and became part of a circle of young writers who were shaping modernist elements in Slovene literature. His love for Angela Smola inspired many of his poems. Kette's life was cut short by tuberculosis at the age of 23, leaving behind a legacy that influenced Slovene literary tradition.
