She was born on September 12, 1961, in Bucharest, Romania, and passed away on August 1, 2017. Avram's music often moved between improvisation and notation and frequently incorporated electronics. She was a proponent of spectral music, viewing it as a specific attitude towards sound that encompasses many different viewpoints. Alongside her husband, Iancu Dumitrescu, she co-directed the Hyperion Ensemble and was instrumental in creating the Spectrum XXI festival. Her legacy continues through the performances of her works and her contributions to the field of music.
