Bujor Nedelcovici

Bujor Nedelcovici was a Romanian novelist, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, journalist, and photographer. Born in Bârlad, Romania, he graduated from the Bucharest Law Faculty in 1959. After facing political persecution, he worked various jobs across Romania. His literary career began with the novel "The Last Ones" in 1970. Nedelcovici's works, including "Without Oars" and "The Night," received several awards. His novel "Days of Sand" was adapted into a film, which was later banned due to its subtle criticism of authority. In 1987, he settled in Paris, France, where he continued to write and became part of the editorial board of the magazine Esprit. He passed away in November 2023 in Paris.
