Iris Barbura was a Romanian-German-American dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher. Her career began in Bucharest and reached international acclaim. She was known for her modern dance performances and choreography, significantly contributing to the dance culture in Romania. Barbura's life was marked by her artistic collaboration with Sergiu Celibidache, with whom she had a multi-year romantic and artistic partnership. After separating from Celibidache, she moved to the United States, where she continued to teach dance and inspire students. Her tragic death left a profound impact on the dance community.
