Trinh Thi Ngo

Trinh Thi Ngo, known as Hanoi Hannah, was a Vietnamese radio personality during the Vietnam War. She was born in 1931 in Hanoi, Tonkin, French Indochina. Her father, Trịnh Định Kính, was a successful businessman. She became famous for her English-language propaganda broadcasts directed at US troops, which were part of North Vietnam's psychological warfare efforts. Her broadcasts included anti-war messages, lists of casualties, and popular American songs of the time. She aimed to incite feelings of nostalgia and homesickness among the soldiers, persuading them that their involvement in the war was unjust. After the war, she continued to work in media, contributing to Ho Chi Minh City Television. She passed away on September 30, 2016, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
