Natasja Saad

Natasja Saad was a Danish singer and deejay who was one of the most popular and influential artists in Denmark. She started her career as a teenager in Copenhagen, where she performed with her friend Karen Mukupa and other artists in the band No Name Requested. She was inspired by Jamaican culture and music, and visited the island several times. She won the Irie FM Big Break Contest in Jamaica in 2006, becoming the first non-Jamaican to do so. She wrote and performed songs in various genres, such as reggae, dancehall, hip hop, and pop. She was known for her distinctive voice, catchy melodies, and socially conscious lyrics. She also appeared in several films and TV shows, such as Fidibus and Købmanden. She collaborated with many other artists, such as Bikstok Røgsystem, Enur, and Pharfar. She became internationally famous when her vocals on the reggae fusion remix of "Calabria" reached the number one spot on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart. She died in a car crash on the outskirts of Kingston, Jamaica, at the age of 32. She was widely mourned by the Danish public and her fans, and her songs are still played and celebrated today.
