About me / Bio:
Peter Brixtofte was a Danish politician who was a member of the Folketing for Venstre from 1973 to 2005. He served as the tax minister in Poul Schlüter's last government from 1992 to 1993. He was also the mayor of Farum from 1985 to 2002, where he implemented a controversial sale-and-lease-back scheme and lavish welfare programs. He was accused of corruption, fraud, and misuse of public funds, and was convicted and sentenced to prison in 2004. He was released in 2006 and retired from politics. He died in 2016 at the age of 66.
