Dario Campeotto

Dario Campeotto was a Danish singer and entertainer who was one of the most popular and influential artists in Denmark. He started his career as a trumpet player in a jazz band, but later switched to guitar and singing. He made his album debut with En aften i folkeklubben in 1965. His public breakthrough came in 1961 with the song "Angelique", which he performed at the Eurovision Song Contest, where he finished in fifth place. He also appeared in many films and TV shows, such as Lokomotivet Thomas, Jomfruburet, Valsedrømme, Flagermusen, and Matador. He sang in a distinctive and expressive way, blending blues, folk, and rock music. He was among the pioneers in using Danish language in rock music in the 1960s. He sang many traditional Scandinavian and Danish songs and ballads, as well as contemporary songs by Shel Silverstein, Halfdan Rasmussen, Vagn Lundbye, and others. He also composed music for several poets, including Benny Andersen. He worked with many other notable musicians and bands, such as The Beefeaters, Burnin Red Ivanhoe, Peter Thorup, Fuzzy, and The Brazz Brothers. He received many awards and honors, such as the Teaterpokalen, the IFPI Honorary Award, and the Order of the Dannebrog. He died of cancer at the age of 84, leaving behind a rich legacy of artistic achievements.
