Tony Momoh

Tony Momoh was a Nigerian-born journalist, lawyer, and politician who served as the Minister of Information and Culture from 1986 to 1990 under the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was also a prominent member of various political parties, including the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was a staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari and advocated for the restructuring of the country. He was also a prolific writer and author of several books, articles, and columns on various topics related to Nigeria, Africa, and the world. He was involved in some landmark legal cases that defended the freedom of the press and challenged the powers of the legislature. He was a respected elder statesman and a public intellectual who contributed to the development and democracy of Nigeria. He died on February 1, 2021, in Abuja after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many admirers. He is remembered as a courageous, generous, and visionary journalist, lawyer, and politician who left a lasting legacy on Nigerian history and politics.
