Sadiq Abubakar Daba

Sadiq Daba was a Nigerian actor and broadcaster who worked with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for over three decades. He started his acting career in the late 1970s, starring in the NTA-produced soap opera Cockcrow at Dawn as Bitrus. He later appeared in several Nollywood films, such as October 1, Citation, and Eagle Wings. He won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Inspector Waziri in October 1 in 2015. He also received the title of "Garkuwan Nollywood" (Shield of Nollywood) by the stakeholders in the industry in 2018. He was known for his eloquence and mastery of the English language. He announced his diagnosis of leukemia and prostate cancer in 2017 and received support from various Nigerians, including Josephine Obiajulu Odumakin, Mabeloboh Center For Save Our Stars (MOCSOS), and Project Pink Blue. He died on 3 March 2021 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos. He was 69 years old.
