Adamu Abdu-Kafarati

Adamu Abdu-Kafarati was a Nigerian jurist who served as the chief judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria from 2018 to 2019. He began his career as a state counsel in Bauchi State Ministry of Justice and rose to the position of assistant administrator-general before he was appointed a judge of the Federal High Court in 1991. He became the acting chief judge of the court in 2017 and was confirmed as the substantive chief judge in 2018. He retired in 2019 after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 65. He was known for his judicial reforms and landmark cases, such as the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the dismissal of the certificate forgery suit against former President Goodluck Jonathan. He died of cardiac arrest on February 25, 2021, in Abuja.
