Enrique Guzman y Valle

Enrique Guzmán y Valle was a prominent Peruvian chemist and professor, born on July 27, 1854, in Lima. He was an alumnus of the College of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lima and later attended the Faculty of Sciences at the National University of San Marcos. Guzmán y Valle made significant contributions to education and science in Peru, including founding the Meteorological Observatory of Lima. He was also involved in the Pacific War, contributing to the construction of torpedoes and the manufacture of chemicals. His dedication to education is commemorated by the Universidad Nacional de Educación Enrique Guzmán y Valle, which bears his name.
