About me / Bio:

Dejan Bravničar was a renowned Slovenian violinist, born in Ljubljana on October 1, 1937. He was the son of composer Matija Bravničar and ballet dancer and teacher Gizela Bravničar. Dejan studied at the Music School in Ljubljana and graduated from the Ljubljana Academy of Music in 1957. He furthered his studies at the Moscow Conservatory and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. As a soloist, he performed with many orchestras under notable conductors and had a repertoire that included over 40 violin concertos. From 1967, he was a professor of violin at the Music Academy of Ljubljana and served as its dean between 1993 and 2001. He passed away on March 21, 2018, leaving behind a legacy of musical excellence and pedagogy.
