Pino Mlakar was a renowned Slovenian ballet dancer, choreographer, and teacher. Born on March 2, 1907, in Novo Mesto, he made significant contributions to the arts, particularly in the field of ballet. After graduating from the Rudolf Laban Choreographic Institute in Hamburg in 1927, he became a member of the Ljubljana Opera and Ballet Company, where he worked from 1946 to 1960. For 25 years, he served as a full professor at the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) of the University of Ljubljana. Alongside his wife, Pia Mlakar, he laid the foundations for professional ballet schooling in Slovenia. His legacy in the arts continues to inspire future generations. Pino Mlakar passed away on September 30, 2006, in his hometown of Novo Mesto.
