About me / Bio:
Lojze Slak was a Slovenian musician, known as one of the pioneers of Slovene popular folk music. Born in Jordankal, Mirna Peč, he first learned to play the diatonic button accordion from his uncle. His career took off after competing in a radio talent show, leading to the formation of the Lojze Slak Ansamble. Slak's music, characterized by the use of the diatonic button accordion, became a significant part of Slovene cultural heritage. He created over 500 songs and made several improvements to the accordion. Slak was also known for promoting cviček wine and had his own vineyard. He passed away in 2011 after a battle with bone cancer and left behind a legacy that continues to influence Slovene folk music.
