Yodrak Salakjai

Yodrak Salakjai, born Niphon Plaiwan, was a renowned Thai Luk thung singer and actor. His career spanned from 1971 until his death in 2008. He was born on February 6, 1956, in Phichit, Thailand, and was the youngest of eight children. After his father passed away when he was seven, Yodrak left home at age 11 to pursue a career in music. He started singing with Ked Noi Watthana Ram Wong Band, earning a modest income, and later performed in nightclubs and restaurants. His breakthrough came when he sang 'Jod Mai Jak Naew Naa' composed by Chonlathee Tharnthong, which made him famous. Over his career, he performed over 4,200 songs and starred in films like 'Crime Kings.' Yodrak was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2008 and chose not to receive treatment. He passed away on August 9, 2008, in Bangkok.
