Le Van Mien

Lê Văn Miến was a prominent Vietnamese painter known for introducing European oil painting techniques to Vietnam. Born on March 13, 1874, in Vinh, he was sent to study at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1889. Although he was denied the Prix de Rome due to his nationality, his contributions to art remained significant. After returning to Vietnam, he worked in Hanoi and taught in Vinh, later becoming a respected educator. His legacy includes rare but influential artworks that reflect a blend of Vietnamese tradition and European techniques.
