Mohamed Haytham Khayat

Mohamed Haytham Khayat was a Syrian physician and lexicographer who worked as a senior policy advisor to the World Health Organization Regional Directory for the Eastern Mediterranean. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences. He was known for his major contribution to the Unified Medical Dictionary, a multilingual medical dictionary that covers Arabic, English, French, Persian and Turkish. He also published more than 25 books and hundreds of articles on various fields such as medicine, health, chemistry, botany, Arabic language, and Islamic ethics. He was fluent in five languages: Arabic, English, French, German and Italian. He died on 5 September 2020 in Cairo, Egypt at the age of 82 or 83.
