Riad Beyrouti

Riad Beyrouti was a Syrian painter and sculptor who lived in Normandy, France from 1969 until his death. He graduated from the Damascus National School of Fine Arts, where he majored in sculpture. He moved to France in 1969 and attended the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he studied under the famous sculptor César. He exhibited his works in various galleries and museums in Caen and Honfleur. He was also the president of the Société des artistes bas-normands and the association Art 20.21, which organized exhibitions of contemporary art. His works were characterized by contrasts and oppositions, reflecting his dual cultural identity and his imagination. He also painted many portraits of women, expressing his fascination with their grace and beauty. He died in Honfleur on November 4, 2019.
