Mahmoud El Nokrashy Pasha was an Egyptian political figure who served as the second prime minister of the Kingdom of Egypt twice, from 1945 to 1946 and from 1946 to 1948. He was a member of the Saadist Institutional Party, which supported a liberal monarchist programme, and also a member of the secret apparatus of the Wafd Party, the main nationalist party at the time. He was concerned with the popularity and assertiveness of the Muslim Brotherhood, which he outlawed in December 1948, leading to his assassination by a member of the group. He was also involved in the negotiations with Britain over the status of the Sudan and the withdrawal of British troops from Egypt. He was known for his pro-Western stance and his opposition to communism. He was killed in the Ministry of Interior by a veterinary student who shot him twice. His assassination triggered a series of political violence and instability in Egypt.
