August Oddvar

August Oddvar was a Norwegian stage actor who had a long and distinguished career at the National Theatre. He made his stage debut in 1899, and played there for sixty years until 1959. He was known for his versatility and his ability to portray a wide range of characters, from comedy to tragedy. He was especially acclaimed for his roles in Henrik Ibsen's plays, such as Peer Gynt, Brand, and John Gabriel Borkman. He also performed in modern dramas, such as Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman and Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He received several awards and honors for his contributions to Norwegian theatre, including the Order of St. Olav and the Order of the Falcon. He died in 1964 at the age of 86.
