About me / Bio:
Pedro Infante was one of the most popular and beloved Mexican artists of the 20th century. He started his musical career as a carpenter and amateur singer, playing various instruments in local bands. He moved to Mexico City in 1939 and began to work in radio, where he gained recognition for his voice and charisma. He also ventured into acting, starring in more than 60 films, many of them musical comedies and dramas. He became an icon of the golden age of Mexican cinema, portraying characters that reflected the aspirations and struggles of the Mexican people. He was especially known for his roles as a charro, a Mexican cowboy, and for his interpretation of ranchera songs, a genre of traditional folk music. He collaborated with some of the most renowned composers and directors of his time, such as Manuel Esperón, Agustín Lara, Luis Aguilar, and Ismael Rodríguez. He also recorded over 350 songs, some of which became classics of Mexican music, such as "Amorcito Corazón", "Cien Años", "Las Mañanitas", and "Historia de un Amor". He was admired by millions of fans, not only in Mexico, but also in Latin America, Spain, and the United States. He received several awards and honors, such as the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival for his performance in Tizoc, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He died tragically at the age of 39, when the plane he was piloting crashed near Mérida, Yucatán. His death caused a national mourning, and thousands of people attended his funeral. He is still remembered as one of the greatest Mexican artists of all time, and his legacy continues to inspire generations of singers and actors.
