About me / Bio:

Tomasz Wójtowicz was one of the most prominent figures of the "golden era" of Polish volleyball in the 1970s. He started his career in MKS Lublin and AZS Lublin, then moved to Avia Świdnik and Legia Warsaw, where he won two Polish championships. He also played for eight years in Italy, winning the CEV European Champions Cup with Santal Parma in 1985. He was a member of the Poland national team that won the gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and the 1974 World Championship in Mexico. He was also a four-time silver medalist at the European Championship and a two-time runner-up at the World Cup. He was known for his powerful spikes and his ability to attack from the back row. He was nominated by the International Volleyball Federation as one of the top eight volleyball players in the world and was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2002. After retiring from playing, he worked as a volleyball commentator and owned a restaurant in Lublin. He died of pancreatic cancer in 2022 at the age of 69.
