Federico Campbell

Federico Campbell was a Mexican writer, journalist, essayist, translator, and narrator. He was born in Tijuana, Mexico, in 1941, and moved to Mexico City in 1965, where he worked as a reporter for various newspapers and magazines. He also taught literature and journalism at several universities. He was known for his short stories and novels that explored the border culture and identity of Tijuana and its inhabitants, as well as the political and social issues of Mexico. He won several awards for his literary work, including the Colima Prize for Fiction in 2000 and the J. S. Guggenheim Fellowship in 1995. He translated works by Harold Pinter, David Mamet, and Leonardo Sciascia, among others, into Spanish. He died in 2014 from a stroke at the age of 72.
