J.T. Tom West was a Nigerian Nollywood actor, known for his roles in action movies such as State of Emergency, The Captor, and Gangster Paradise. He started his acting career in 1987 and appeared in over 40 films. He was also a director, dancer, and singer. He was popular for his ponytail hairstyle and smooth-talking persona. He died on September 28, 2006, in a car accident in Lagos, after completing a late-night film shoot. He was 40 years old. He was mourned by the industry and his fans, who regarded him as one of the brightest stars in Nollywood.
