Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan

Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan was a Pakistani stateswoman and economist, who was the First Lady of Pakistan from 1947 to 1951 as the wife of Liaquat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan. She was one of the leading women figures in the Pakistan Movement and a close associate of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. She served as an economic adviser to Jinnah's Pakistan Movement Committee and later became the president of the All Pakistan Women's Association, a voluntary organisation dedicated to the welfare of women in Pakistan. She also held various diplomatic and political positions, including the ambassador to the Netherlands and Italy, the governor of Sindh, and the minister of women's development. She received the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the highest civilian award of Pakistan, in 1959, and the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and the Order of Orange-Nassau from Italy and the Netherlands respectively. She died in 1990 of natural causes. She is revered as Madar-e-Pakistan (Mother of Pakistan) and a role model for Pakistani women.
