Haleem Brohi

Haleem Brohi was a Pakistani journalist, satirist, writer and film critic, who wrote in the Sindhi language. He is considered the second greatest satirist in Sindhi literature after Ali Mohammad Brohi. He was born in 1935 in British India and migrated to Pakistan in 1947. He worked for various newspapers and magazines as a columnist, editor and film critic. He joined the film industry in 1957 as a storywriter and later produced, directed and wrote several Urdu films. He also wrote many books on travel, biography and film history, including Filmi Alif Laila, which is considered a masterpiece on Pakistani cinema. He won eight Nigar Awards during his career. He also created a Latin alphabet for the Sindhi language and was a regular contributor to a popular Sindhi daily. He died in 2010 of a heart stroke at a local hospital.
