Alamgir Khan Tareen

Alamgir Khan Tareen, or simply known as Alamgir Tareen, was a Pakistani businessman and founder of the Multan Sultans cricket team. Tareen was the brother of Jahangir Tareen and Seemi Ezdi. Alamgir Tareen was a leading businessman in South Punjab. He was the managing director of Shamim and Company (Pvt) Ltd, which is the official bottler and franchise of PepsiCo for South Punjab. He did his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and later completed his master's degree from Yale. He acquired the Multan Sultans franchise in 2018 along with his nephew Ali Khan Tareen, the son of influential Pakistani businessman and politician Jahangir Tareen. He was passionate about cricket and wanted to promote the sport in his region. He received many awards for his work, including Pride of Performance, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Necip Fazil International Culture and Art Award. He also taught business and management at the National College of Arts and mentored many young entrepreneurs. He committed suicide in Lahore on 6 July 2023, at the age of 64 due to a prolonged illness. He was laid to rest in his hometown.
