Shabbir Mirza

Shabbir Mirza was a Pakistani actor and comedian who started his career as a child artist in Radio Pakistan in 1952. He made his film debut in Riwaj in 1964 and acted in more than 200 films in his career. He also appeared in many television dramas, such as Nazrana, the first-ever play of PTV, Andhera Ujala, Lakhon Main Teen, Aangan and Khaani. He was best known for his role as Naveed in the comedy series Guest House, which aired on PTV Network in 1991. He also wrote and performed the autobiographical one-man stage play Action and Reaction in 2011, which was well received by the critics and the audience. He received many awards for his work, including Pride of Performance, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Necip Fazil International Culture and Art Award. He also taught acting and comedy at the National College of Arts and mentored many young artists. He died of cancer on 8 September 2023 in Karachi at the age of 77. He was laid to rest in his hometown.
