Rahim Gul

Rahim Gul was born in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in 1951. He started playing squash at a young age and became one of the top players in Pakistan. He won several national and international titles, including the Asian Squash Championship in 1976 and 1978. He was also ranked among the top 20 in the world, despite having lost his right eye as a child. He retired from playing in 1980 and became a coach. He moved to Singapore in the late 1970s and coached the national team for more than 15 years. He helped Singapore achieve its best ever result at the World Team Championships in 1985, where they finished sixth. He also coached some of the country's best players, such as Zainal Abidin, Peter Hill, Lim Seok Hui, and Tracey Woon. He later moved to Malaysia and became their national coach as well. He was widely respected and admired for his skills, knowledge, and passion for the sport. He died of diabetes-related complications in Rawalpindi, Punjab, on 13 October 2017, at the age of 66. He was posthumously honored by the Singapore Squash Rackets Association and the Pakistan Squash Federation for his contributions to the sport.
