Ahmed Ghulamali Chagla

Ahmed Ghulamali Chagla was a Pakistani musical composer, scholar and writer. He was also an active member of the Theosophical Society. He studied both eastern and western systems of music and travelled extensively to learn from different cultures. He was proficient in classical, operatic and orchestral music. He was appointed as a member of the National Anthem Committee of Pakistan in 1948 and composed the music for the Qaumi Tarana, the national anthem of Pakistan, in 1950. He wrote a series of articles on the music, art and culture of the countries he had visited. He died of a heart attack in Karachi on 5 February 1953 at the age of 50.
