Imdad Ali Imam Ali Kazi

Imdad Ali Imam Ali Kazi was a prominent poet and scholar of Sindhi literature. He was born in Shikarpur, Sindh, in 1926. He received his early education from his father, Imam Ali Kazi, who was also a renowned poet and philosopher. He later studied at the University of Bombay and the University of London, where he obtained his PhD in philosophy. He taught at various colleges and universities in Pakistan and abroad, and served as the vice-chancellor of Sindh University from 1976 to 1979. He wrote several books and poems in Sindhi and English, covering topics such as philosophy, history, culture, religion, and mysticism. He was also a pioneer of modern Sindhi poetry, and introduced new forms and styles to the Sindhi language. He was married to Elsa Kazi, a German poet and painter, who also contributed to Sindhi literature and art. He died of a heart attack in Jamshoro, Sindh, in 2002. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Sindhi poets and scholars of the 20th century.
