Muhammad Anwar Khan

Muhammad Anwar Khan was a major general in the Pakistan Army and the first engineer in chief of the Pakistan Army. He was born in Lyallpur, British India, on 23 February 1915. He graduated from the Indian Military Academy in 1936 and joined the Indian Corps of Engineers. He was the first Muslim to be a sapper officer in the British Indian Army. He served in various engineering units and projects, including the South Waziristan campaign, the Burma campaign, the Pakistan-Bangladesh border, and the Indus Basin Development Project. He became the engineer in chief of the Pakistan Army in 1957 and held the position until 1965. He retired from the army in 1965 and served as the chairman of the Oil and Gas Development Corporation until 1969. He received the Hilal-e-Jurat, the second-highest military award of Pakistan, for his services. He died of natural causes in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on 5 February 2005. He was 90 years old.
