Zizinho was a Brazilian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder for the Brazil national team and several clubs, mainly Flamengo and Bangu. He was considered one of the best players of his era and was the top scorer of the 1950 FIFA World Cup. He was also known for his dribbling, passing, and shooting skills, as well as his leadership and charisma. He was the childhood idol of Pelé, who called him "the master of masters". He played 53 times for Brazil, scoring 30 goals, and won two Copa América titles in 1949 and 1957. He also played in three World Cups, in 1950, 1954, and 1958, but never won the trophy. He retired from playing in 1962, after a brief spell with Audax Italiano in Chile, and later became a coach and a commentator. He died of a heart attack in 2002, at the age of 80.
