Emanoil Bacaloglu

Emanoil Bacaloglu was a prominent Wallachian and Romanian mathematician, physicist, and chemist. Born in Bucharest, he studied in Paris and Leipzig and later became a professor at the University of Bucharest. A member of the Romanian Academy since 1879, he is considered a pioneer in creating scientific and technological fields in Romania, contributing significantly to the Romanian-language terminology in his areas of expertise. He was also one of the main founders of the Society of Physical Sciences. His notable work includes the 'Bacaloglu pseudosphere,' a surface of revolution with constant negative curvature.
