Primož Ramovš was a Slovenian composer and librarian, known for being a pioneer of the Slovenian musical avant-garde. He was born on March 20, 1921, in Ljubljana, which was then part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. He studied at the Ljubljana Academy of Music and later in Italy. Throughout his career, he worked as a librarian at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and taught at the Ljubljana Conservatory. His compositions, which were initially neoclassical, evolved to include serialism and other modernist techniques. Ramovš passed away on January 10, 1999, in Ljubljana, leaving behind a legacy that significantly influenced Slovenian music.
