Peder A. Aaroe

Peder A. Aarøe was a Norwegian trade unionist who played a prominent role in the labor movement of his country. He was born in Stjørdalen in 1868 and became a furniture worker. He joined the trade union Møbelindustriarbeiderforbundet and became its chairman in 1906. He was also elected as the deputy chairman of Norges Kooperative Landsforening, the national cooperative association, in 1913. He was a strong advocate of the cooperative movement and its role in improving the living conditions of the workers. He was also involved in the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions, the main umbrella organization of the labor unions, and served as its treasurer from 1915 until his death in 1927. He was a member of the Norwegian Labour Party and supported its socialist orientation. He was a delegate to the Fourth Comintern Congress in 1922, where he defended the Norwegian party's position against the criticism of the Soviet leaders. He died in 1927 at the age of 58 or 59. He was a respected and influential figure in the Norwegian labor movement and left a lasting legacy of his work.
