Jorge Negrete

Jorge Negrete was a Mexican singer and actor who rose to fame in the 1930s and 1940s. He was one of the pioneers of the golden age of Mexican cinema, starring in over 40 films, many of them musicals. He was known for his powerful voice, his charisma, and his iconic charro outfit. He was also a social activist who founded the Mexican Actors Association and the Mexican Film Workers Union. He married twice, first to dancer Elisa Christy, and later to actress María Félix, with whom he starred in several films. He died in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 42, from complications of hepatic cirrhosis. He was buried in Mexico City, where thousands of fans attended his funeral. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Mexican singers and actors of all time, and his songs and films are still popular today.
