Mohammad Hashem Zamani was a prominent Afghan poet and politician. Born in Lamattak, Kunar, Afghanistan, he was the son of Mir Zaman Khan, a general during King Amanullah Khan's regime. Zamani's life was marked by his political imprisonment at a young age, which lasted for 13 years, followed by exile. Despite these hardships, he emerged as a significant figure in Afghan politics and literature. He represented the people of Kunar in the Grand Assembly and was known for his Pashto poetry. His works, written even under the duress of ill health, reflect his resilience and dedication to his cultural heritage. Zamani passed away in Hayward, California, but his legacy endures through his poetry and political contributions.
