Youssof Kohzad was an ethnic Tajik writer, painter, playwright, artist, poet, actor, and art consultant from Afghanistan. Born in 1935 in Kabul, he was a prolific figure in the Afghan arts scene, contributing significantly to the dramatic arts. He graduated from Nejat High School in Kabul and furthered his art education at the Academy of Art in Rome, Italy. Kohzad held executive positions at the Ministry of Media and Culture in Afghanistan and founded the National Gallery in Kabul. His works were exhibited internationally, and he played a crucial role in the preservation and promotion of Afghan culture through his art and plays. After emigrating to the United States, he continued to exhibit his work and remained active in the art community until his passing on February 1, 2019, in Tracy, California.
