About me / Bio:
Ayub Ommaya was a Pakistani-American neurosurgeon and the inventor of the Ommaya reservoir, a device that delivers chemotherapy directly to the tumor site in the brain. He was also a leading expert in traumatic brain injuries and published over 150 articles, chapters, and books on various topics related to neurosurgery. He was the chief of neurosurgery at the National Institute of Health from 1961 to 1980 and the founder of the Scheherazade Press, a publishing house for Urdu literature. He was also a co-founder of the Karachi Literature Festival and a professor at Habib University. He received several awards and honors for his contributions to medicine and science, including the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, the Prime Minister's award for literature, and an honorary doctorate from Tulane University. He died of a brain tumor in 2008 at the age of 78. ¹
