Jose Angel Espinoza

José Ángel Espinoza was a Mexican singer-songwriter and film actor who was also known as Ferrusquilla. He was born in Choix, Sinaloa on October 2, 1919, and moved to Los Mochis and then Mazatlán during his childhood. He went to Mexico City in 1937 to study medicine, but he became interested in the radio industry and started working at XEQ-AM in 1938. He composed his first song, "El muchacho alegre", in 1940 and soon became a popular songwriter for many famous singers. He also began his acting career in 1946, appearing in more than 70 movies, mostly in supporting roles. He was known for his roles in House of Evil, Two Mules for Sister Sara, and El hombre de papel. He was the father of actress Angélica Aragón and actress and singer Isaura Espinoza. He also had a statue of him along Olas Altas Promenade in Mazatlán, Mexico. He died of pneumonia on November 6, 2015, at the age of 96.
