Elvira Rios

Elvira Ríos was a Mexican singer and actress who achieved international success through radio, records, nightclub engagements, tours, and films. She was one of the most notable performers of Agustín Lara's songs, and the first Mexican singer to sing for the President's Black Tie Ball at the National Press Club in Washington. She began her career in Mexico in the mid-1930s, and soon moved to Hollywood, where she appeared in films such as Tropic Holiday and Stagecoach. She also performed in New York, Miami, Argentina, Brazil, France, and Spain, among other countries. She was known for her smooth, deep voice, her fashionable clothes, and her glamorous beauty. She sang songs such as "Noche de ronda", "Flores negras", "Perfidia", "Desesperadamente", and "Ausencia". She retired in the late 1970s and died in 1987 from renal failure and bladder cancer. She was 73 years old. Her legacy lives on through her recordings, films, and television appearances.
