Bukky Ajayi was a Nigerian actress and television personality who started her career as a presenter and newscaster for Nigerian Television Authority in 1966. She made her film debut in the television series Village Headmaster in the 1970s and later starred in the popular series Checkmate in the 1990s. She also featured in several Nollywood movies, such as Diamond Ring, Mother of George, Indecent Girl, and Witches. She was one of the recipients of the Industry Merit Award at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, where she gave an emotional speech and received a standing ovation from the audience. She died on 6 July 2016 at her residence in Surulere, Lagos State, after a long battle with cancer.
