Chico Anísio was a Brazilian comedian, writer, and actor, who was born as Francisco Anysio de Oliveira Paula Filho in 1931. He was one of the most famous and influential Brazilian comedians of all time, creating more than 200 characters and shows for radio, TV, cinema, and theater. He started his career as a radio announcer and actor, and later moved to TV, where he worked for more than 40 years at Rede Globo. Some of his most popular shows were Chico City, Chico Anysio Show, and Escolinha do Professor Raimundo, where he played the role of a teacher and interacted with other comedians playing his former characters. He also wrote books, songs, and columns, and participated in several films and telenovelas. He was known for his versatility, creativity, and satire, as well as his controversial and irreverent opinions. He died of respiratory failure in 2012, at the age of 80.
