Rainer Werner Fassbinder

Rainer Werner Fassbinder was one of the most influential and prolific filmmakers of the New German Cinema movement. He started his career as a theatre actor and director, and later founded his own film production company. He made films in various genres and styles, often exploring themes of social alienation, exploitation, and sexuality. He was also known for his controversial personal life, which involved multiple affairs with both men and women, as well as drug abuse and violence. He died at the age of 37 from a lethal dose of cocaine and sleeping pills. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, and his films have influenced many directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Todd Haynes, Lars von Trier, and Quentin Tarantino.
