About me / Bio:
Florian Schneider-Esleben was a German musician who played a key role in shaping the electronic music scene in the 1970s and 1980s. He co-founded the band Kraftwerk with Ralf Hütter in 1970, and remained a member until his departure in 2008. Schneider played various instruments, such as synthesizer, flute, saxophone, guitar, and percussion, and also provided vocals for some of the songs. He was known for his experimentation with sound effects, vocoders, and computer-generated speech. He also collaborated with other artists, such as David Bowie, Afrika Bambaataa, and Karl Bartos. Schneider was regarded as a visionary and an innovator by many critics and musicians, and his work with Kraftwerk influenced a wide range of genres, such as synth-pop, techno, hip-hop, new wave, ambient, and rock. He received several awards and honors for his contributions to music, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. Schneider died of cancer on 21 April 2020 at the age of 73. He was praised by many artists and fans as a legend and an inspiration.
