About me / Bio:
Davy Jones was an English musician and actor who rose to fame as a member of the pop rock band The Monkees in the 1960s. He was also a co-star of the TV series The Monkees (1966-1968), which featured the band's music and adventures. Jones was considered a teen idol and had a loyal fan base. Jones began his career as a child actor, appearing in the British soap opera Coronation Street and the BBC police series Z-Cars. He also played the role of the Artful Dodger in the original London and Broadway productions of Oliver!, earning a Tony Award nomination. He made his US television debut on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, on the same night that The Beatles made their first appearance. In 1965, Jones auditioned for The Monkees, a musical project created by Screen Gems to capitalize on the success of The Beatles. He was chosen as one of the four members of the band, along with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. The Monkees became a huge phenomenon, selling millions of records and attracting a large audience for their TV show. Some of their hit songs include "Daydream Believer", "I'm a Believer", "Last Train to Clarksville", and "Pleasant Valley Sunday". Jones also pursued a solo career as a singer and actor, releasing several albums and appearing in various TV shows and movies. He also starred in several musicals, such as Godspell, Grease, The Point, and The Real Live Brady Bunch. He was known for his charisma, humor, and distinctive voice. Jones died of a heart attack on February 29, 2012, at his home in Florida. He was 66 years old. He was survived by his wife Jessica Pacheco and his four daughters from previous marriages. He was cremated and his ashes were given to his family or friend. His death was mourned by his fans and fellow musicians around the world. He was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame posthumously in 2019.
